We don’t hear much about Hell anymore – not even from church pulpits; and the reason is pretty obvious: people don’t want to hear about something so disturbing – and yes, even suspect in our enlightened culture.
This being said, I share this passage from the Bible that predicts the “end times:” “A time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and look for teachers who tell them what their itching ears want to ear. They will reject the Truth and chase after myths.”
Today, Hell is considered the myth and Truth blows with the wind of the culture’s subjectivity. Consequently, pulpits are manned today with preachers who declare what the congregants want to hear – subjects like abounding grace that excuses sin apart from repentance; or a Health and Wealth Gospel that guarantees physical and fiscal very well-being; or a universal salvation that punches everybody’s ticket to Heaven.
Please consider attending this Sunday as we resist any ear-scratching to declare what the Bible says about the inevitable future judgment.
