Sermon Synopsis for Christmas Eve, December 24th: “Mary Had a Little Lamb”

It’s Christmas Eve once again and many homes all over the world honor a long-standing family tradition. Maybe yours does? Some homes will recite some appropriate Christmas story with everyone gathered by the hearth to hear daddy read, “‘Twas the night before Christmas …” Other families may conduct a more elaborate tradition and actually act out one of the scenes from Charles Dickens’ immortal classic, “A Christmas Carol.” Within more religious homes, maybe yours, you sit around the dinner table and everyone reads a paragraph or two from the story that gave Christmas its name: “And it came to pass in those days …”

But at our Candlelight Christmas Eve service this Friday evening, my wife is going to read what’s ne’er been a Christmas story, and even less likely, has ne’er been adopted as anyone’s Christmas tradition. But that’s all I’m going to say. If you want to hear more, you’ll need to attend one of our two services, either at 5pm or 7pm.
