Sermon Synopsis for Sunday, November 22nd: “Rock ‘n Roll”

During a flag football game while I was flaunting my less than stellar collegiate athleticism, I was running a diversionary pass route to the far side of the field. I wasn’t the intended target, which may explain why we gained about 50 yards. But when my seven teammates gathered for the ensuing huddle, I was conspicuously absent. They turned around and looked way back down the field, only to spot me lying on my back, clutching my elevated ankle in obvious discomfort.

On that prior play while I had been running my pass pattern, I stepped on a rock – and rolled my ankle. Rock ‘n roll! – which eventuated in a cast for the next 9 weeks. I was simply striving to be biblical: I was “casting all my care on the Lord because He cared for me.”

Rock ‘n Roll! One lone stone in my path and didn’t I find it? It sent me sprawling and crawling and bawling – well not really, but it rhymes.

Please join us this Sunday in person or via livestream as we learn of another stone that caused many more than just one to take a tumble. It led to an entire race of people hitting the spiritual turf when they ran into this Rock.
