Sermon Synopsis for Sunday, November 8th: “Never Forgotten”

Have you ever made a promise you didn’t keep? Sure you have. Me too. I’m not proud of it, but yea, I’ve failed to follow through with some promises I had made over the years. Now I know my number is small, and I don’t state this facetiously. I say this for one reason only: I avoid making promises because I understand that my humanity is far more noble than it is reliable.

Aren’t you ecstatic that God is nothing like us in this respect? A Divine Promise made is a foregone Promise kept.

How unspeakably reassuring this Truth sounded to those Jewish Christians in Rome who were hearing Paul’s letter read aloud to them! They had feared that God had forgotten – or worse, had forsaken – the promises He had made to their ancestors. They realized that not only did their people keep spiritually messing up, but they had even murdered God’s Messiah!

“Have You forgotten the Covenants You made with our Father, Abraham, our Lawgiver, Moses & our greatest King, David? Or have we so turned our backs on You that You must now turn Your back on us?”

Please join us this Sunday morning to learn God’s response to their desperate cry in the message I’ve entitled, “Never Forgotten.”
