On those very rare occasions when as a child I misbehaved and knew that either my siblings’ retaliation or my mom’s wrath was imminent, I ran to the Safe Zone of our 2nd Floor Rear. Now what in the world was a “2nd Floor Rear?” It was my grandma’s bedroom. “So???” Well, because I was her favorite grandchild, out of 17, in her eyes I could do no wrong. She was putty in my charming hands.
In those instances, my Grams, as I called her, became my Protector, my Provider, my Pleader, and my Preserver. Had it not been for her intervention during those turbulent times, I would’ve probably never survived my childhood. “Since Grams was for me, who could ever be against me?” My grand mama always had my back.
