Sermon Synopsis for Sunday, August 16th: “SPIRIT to Spirit” (Part 1)

Every morning I pray for an 8-year old boy in Bangladesh named Ripon. I follow this 31-day calendar that helps me pray intelligently for him as it spells out one specific request for each day. Here are some of those requests and look for a common theme:

“To feel loved and protected, to have good nutrition, to learn God’s Word, to learn excellent social skills, to develop his skills and talents, to make wise decisions, to enjoy freedom from insecurity and fear, to always strive for honesty, to honor his parents, and to grow closer to God in prayer.”

As I pray through these particulars on a rotating basis, I fully grasp that God’s answers won’t evolve out of a vacuum. He will answer these primarily through the context of Ripon’s immediate family. If he is blessed with a good homelife, then these requests stand a far greater probability for success than if he lived within a dysfunctional family.

We have been “digging deeper” into the practical question, “How can we live the Christian life successfully?” In a concise answer, by taking on the Family likeness. Why not join us this Sunday as we begin to probe five of the Divine Family traits that will reflect Who is our Daddy?
