I was watching a television interview recently where the host asked his guest this question: “How do you wish to be remembered?” Though the question seemed a tad premature as this person had just turned 50 and was in excellent health, it nonetheless prodded me to give this same line of reasoning some sober reflection. So I asked myself, “How do I wish to be remembered?”
As I mulled over this contemplation, I began to posit some possible epitaphs to have etched onto my gravestone one day. It may read, but not likely: “This is no joke.” More probably it will read, “Don’t be fooled by the appearance of death – I’ve never been more alive!” or, “I’ve lived my entire life for this!” or, “Jesus retrieved what belonged to Him.”
Did you know that Jesus had chiseled His own epitaph during the eternity that preceded His Creation of the heavens and the earth? Before He was even “born,” He carved out how He wished to be remembered when He “died.” Your interest piqued? Why not attend this Sunday to hear just what He had etched eons ago?
