Sermon Synopsis:
“He’s alive!, having risen from the dead, having trampled the curse of Death by His crucifixion death;” the greatest story ever told, a story that preachers repeat not just year after year, but Sunday after Sunday in some form or fashion. Why? Because it’s the foundation of the Christian Faith. Everything else about this Faith builds on it.
But I harbor a problem as I tout this fundamental tenet. I fear that regarding Jesus’ Resurrection, familiarity breeds complacency; that our former shouts of “He’s alive!” have atrophied to silent whispers of “Ho, hum.”
Folks, let me shout it again: “Jesus is alive!” This isn’t some dusty old doctrine whose tapes get annually replayed this time every year in an effort to rally the church masses – for who knows what reason/s? I’ll tell you my reason for shouting the message: because death’s success rate has sustained an absolute stranglehold on the living. For every life that’s ever been lived, it culminates in death. But Jesus! He broke the mold! He obliterated the mausoleum! His angels rolled the stone away! And best! The Power of Hell has been forever broken!!!
Folks, please let this sink in! Really sink in! Jesus is alive! There’s not an ancient graveyard in the world where we can dig up His remains. There’s not an ancient newspaper in the world where we can read His obituary. There’s not a shred of historical evidence that confirms Jesus of Nazareth, Who drew incredible attention at His death, stayed dead. Quite to the contrary, there’s this mountain of evidence that confirms His Resurrection!, not the least of which are all those firsthand witnesses whose words have been immortalized in the perennial bestselling book, the Bible.
I invite you to attend this Easter Sunday to hear the story again in a sermon entitled, “The Day Death Died.” But I’m praying that all who hear it will do so with new ears; because if we’re not moved by its message, then Christianity may just be the next thing that dies.
No Easter Sunday would be complete at Faith Family Fellowship without the tireless efforts of our Kitchen and Children’s ministries teams! Featured here is our beloved “Mr. Ed” in action, manning his post in Kitchen Command Central where he oversaw the coordination of our Breakfast Buffet
