Sermon Synopsis for 11/20: “The Parable of the Wedding Feast”

Have you ever been invited to a neighborhood block party where it’s all about one-upping each other, or to one of those b-o-r-i-n-g church socials? What did you end up doing? I’ll bet some of you probably RSVP-ed with a regret note, electing to bend the truth a tad: “My lumbago’s been acting up.” “We can’t leave the new puppy alone; chews up everything.” “I’ve got this crucial project at work with a hard deadline for Monday.”

I suspect, however, you wouldn’t have declined a block-party invitation had it come from Lebron James or Tom Hanks, or a church social from Queen Elizabeth or Queen B. I bet you’d drop everything on your schedule to attend any of these gatherings; maybe even going out to buy a whole new outfit.

Jesus once told a story that wrapped both of these responses around a single invitation. Want to hear more? Well then you have to join us this Sunday morning as we probe Jesus’ Parable of the Wedding Feast.
