The calendar has brought us to the doorstep of another Christmas season when our minds grapple with such questions as this one: “Who would’ve ever guessed that God would lay down His infant Son into an animal’s feeding trough within some lowly and even inglorious stable? Wouldn’t we have expected a king to be born in a lavish palace, or at least on the grounds of some noble estate?”
But God’s Plan called for a different strategy, soliciting an obscure workman, to build a functional manger, inside a filthy stable, within a rather menial village. Isn’t it just like God to take the insignificant stuff of life to form this beautiful tapestry He named, “My Plan.”
Why not join us this week as we begin our Christmas Sermon Series I’ve entitled, “Three Unexpected Visits”? This Sunday we’ll peer back in time to the day when, as the title reveals, “Mary Visited.”
