“Live Streaming” Sermon Synopsis for Sunday, May 24th: “True Freedom (Part 1)”

Our country’s Pledge of Allegiance declares that we grant “liberty for all.” Our National Anthem climaxes with the triumphal declaration we are the “land of the free.” The First Great Amendment to our Constitution guarantees five distinct freedoms: religion, speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition our government.

But despite all these freedoms, there 10’s of 1,000’s of fellow Americans enslaved, as you know, to drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, prostitution, all the more familiar spheres of bondage. But how about the many trapped by fame, fortune, food, phones, and folly? These captors are the more culturally-accepted categories that can be every bit as enslaving. Obviously, we’re not as free as we purport ourselves to be.

Among the Christian community, it should never be like this at all. Jesus once declared, “If the Son (referring to Himself) sets you free, you are truly free.”

Are you feeling liberated these days, like there’s nothing strapping you down, holding you back from enjoying life to the full – Corona-crisis excluded? If so, please tune in this Memorial Weekend Sunday at 10AM to learn how to be “truly free.”
