From 6th grade on, I knew what God’s Will for life meant. So, I threw myself headlong into preparing for my Divinely-ordained career. But 2½ years into my college education, my prepping to be a Health & Physical Education teacher came to a screeching halt. In the middle of my junior year, I transferred to Bible College to begin prepping for my new career as a Youth Pastor; which God again redirected. After spending but 4 years doing and loving it, I became a preaching pastor.
We’re often told that we learn more by way of experience than by textbook. Certainly, this axiom proved true regarding my ultimate career. You ask, “What did you learn from your experience?” Simply this: the attainment of God’s Will has less to do with what we do than how we live. God exhibits far more interest in you and me being the same people regardless where we live and what we do for a living. He wants us to be honorable people whether we’re a pastor or a postman, a rigger or a rapper. Barring some obvious professions – drug dealer, stripper, and the like – it’s not what we do for a living, but how we live.
Why not come this Sunday as we unveil 3 Principles about God’s Will as we study Part 2 of the sermon, “Our Home Away from Home?”
