Sunday Sermon Synopsis for 2/28: Who is my neighbor? Lu. 10:29

About a month ago, I received an impassioned email from a friend on one of the coldest nights this winter. Yea, his family had heat – “Thank you, Lord!” – but no water. He wanted to know if I could recommend a plumber.

help-153094_960_720Now many folks know that “When the slime hits the wall, who ya’ gonna call?” “Ghostbusters!”

I sing a slightly different ditty: “When house stuff begins to fall, who ya’ gonna call?” “John Kugel!”

So I did, and inside a minute, I had laid out the problem; even offering my expert assistance. (It’s beyond me why John didn’t jump all over this invaluable offer.) Instead, he opted to pick up his partner in grime, Bob Sames. Off they went and within an hour, they were on location and assessing the problem.

Both men had dropped everything they were doing to lend their hands to a family in need.

This dynamic duo serve as a great illustration of this Sunday’s upcoming sermon when we’re going to ask and seek to answer the question, “Who is my neighbor?” Why not visit to learn how we can all better ourselves at becoming a better neighbor?
