Auguste Rodin fashioned &#8220;The Thinker&#8221; in order to conjure up images of deep philosophical or reflective thought. Originally it was a piece designed to represent the very pensive Dante Alighieri as he contemplated writing his &#8220;Divine Comedy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>There he was, sitting outside &#8220;The Gates of Hell&#8221;.
