Times have changed \u2013 because people change. This does not mean, however, that history, which has already happened, should be changed to promote different people’s agenda.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When it comes to our own nation\u2019s history, the educational drift is no more apparent than in the public school system\u2019s revisionist presentation of the First Thanksgiving.\u00a0 I illustrate: Back in 1913, the history textbook used in all Texas public schools devoted three-plus pages to the story of the Pilgrims \u2013 including such notable commentary as this: \u201cThey preferred even hardships that bereft them of friends for a time to the restraints denied them of their liberties.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now fast forward a century to 2014 and the AP\u2019s 1000+ page history textbook used in many public high schools across our land entitled, \u201cAmerica\u2019s History.\u201d It shaved its commentary of the Pilgrims story down to two paragraphs.<\/p>\n
