\"\"<\/a>The leadership of the United Church of Canada recently settled a years-long controversy by voting to allow the Rev. Gretta Vosper to keep her post as the lead minister at West Hill United Church of Toronto. \u201cSo?\u201d Well, this is significant because Rev. Vosper is a self-proclaimed atheist.
\nFolks, we can\u2019t make this stuff up. In her sermons and her new book, \u201cWith or Without God,\u201d Rev. Vosper has made it clear that she doesn\u2019t believe the Bible to be the authoritative Word of God. Well, how could it be if He\/She\/It doesn\u2019t exist? \u201cGod,\u201d for her, isn\u2019t a personal Being, but a metaphor for \u201clove, compassion, and beauty.\u201d<\/p>\n

So every Sunday when the membership gathers, the people replace prayer with \u201ccommunity sharing time.\u201d They have to; you can\u2019t talk to nothingness! Then they sing hymns that have been rewritten to accommodate their secular sensibilities.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I personally like the song, \u201cAll Because of Jesus.\u201d I wonder how this song would be sung at West Hill? \u201cGiver of every breath I breath; author of all eternity; giver of every perfect thing, to Love be the Glory. Maker of Heaven and of earth; no one comprehend your worth; king\/queen? over all the universe, to Beauty be the Glory.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now as though this scenario isn\u2019t troublesome enough, the head of Rev. Vosper\u2019s denomination says he\u2019s happy with the decision to keep her. Why? Because he prefers to emphasize \u201cinclusiveness\u201d over something as divisive as the Christian dogma of God\u2019s existence.<\/p>\n

WOW! Am I ignorant! I had always assumed Christianity presupposed God\u2019s reality. Hey, so if He doesn\u2019t exist, \u201chakuna matata! \u2013 no worries for the rest of our lives; it\u2019s our problem-free philosophy.\u201d But if God does exist, \u201cmega-matata!\u201d Huge worries!
