It was back on Halloween of 1517 that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses onto the chapel door at Wittenberg University in Germany. As a scholar himself, teaching Bible and theology on the faculty, he was requesting that the Holy See provide a forum to debate his growing concerns over his Church’s sale of indulgences. His protest effectively marked the trigger that fired off what later became known as the Protestant Reformation.<\/p>\n
With the 500th birthday of the Protestant Reformation fast approaching, we began a fall sermon series last Sunday to complement this history-altering event.
