I don’t believe I’m making any giant leap of assumption when I say that you, like me, have been hurt by someone at some point along your life journey. Somebody gossiped about you; somebody lied to you; somebody stole from you; or somebody wounded you big time in some way. This left you devastated, emotionally blitzed!<\/p>\n
In the Christian community, here’s where our spiritual lives get sorely tested. Despite the fact that we have tasted God’s forgiveness for all our sins, some of us continue to struggle in trying to forgive those who have sinned against us. I even suspect from what I’ve just written that some of you couldn’t help but envision a particular face glaring back at you from deep inside your cerebral Wall-of-Shame.<\/p>\n
Given this shared vexatious hot spot, are you, am I, ever troubled when we pray that part of the Lord’s Prayer,\u00a0“Forgive us our sins as we have forgiven those who sin against us?”\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
I swallow hard here because I get it that I’m asking God to forgive me of all my sins in like manner and to the degree that I’ve already forgiven others who’ve sinned against me. Oh boy – I’m in trouble!<\/p>\n
