Why ask God for forgiveness when we don&#8217;t sin anymore?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16421\"><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16536\" style=\"font-family: HelveticaNeue, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, 'Lucida Grande', sans-serif;\"><i id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16423\"><a href=\"https:\/\/faithfamilyfellowship.church\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/cake-1850011_1280.jpg\" xlink=\"href\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2751 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/faithfamilyfellowship.church\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/cake-1850011_1280-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>&#8220;Sin is what bad people do! I&#8217;m basically good. I don&#8217;t swear; I don&#8217;t cheat on my spouse; I don&#8217;t treat people harshly. And on the positive side of the spiritual ledger, I volunteer my time at the local fire company; I coach a little league team; I drop my tithe into the church offering plate every week. I even bake a chocolate cake for my pastor several times per year &#8211; in lieu of going to confession. I&#8217;m a really good guy!&#8221;<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16425\"><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16426\"><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16535\" style=\"font-family: HelveticaNeue, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, 'Lucida Grande', sans-serif;\">Admittedly, I&#8217;m being more than a tad facetious. None us claims to be without sin. Yet I&#8217;m pretty convinced we have so marginalized, rationalized and\/or justified our sin, that we&#8217;ve virtually erased it, not out of our vocabulary, but out of the realm of our conviction.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16428\"><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16429\"><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16553\" style=\"font-family: HelveticaNeue, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, 'Lucida Grande', sans-serif;\">Here&#8217;s what I believe has happened: we&#8217;ve redefined sin; we&#8217;ve lowered the standard of what constitutes sin in order to satisfy our conscience. Or to put it another way, we&#8217;ve failed to see our sin as God sees it; we&#8217;ve redefined His definition of it.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"base-card-body\" id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500468164693_38168\">\n<div class=\"msg-body inner  undoreset\" role=\"presentation\" id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500468164693_36974\" tabindex=\"0\">\n<div class=\"email-wrapped\" id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500468164693_38174\">\n<div id=\"yiv9953510697\">\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500468164693_38173\">\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500468164693_38172\">\n<div id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16428\"><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16539\" style=\"font-family: HelveticaNeue, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, 'Lucida Grande', sans-serif;\"><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16554\">So no, I&#8217;m not going to skip past those oh-so-familiar words in the &#8220;Lord&#8217;s Prayer,&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><i id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16432\">&#8220;Forgive us our sins.&#8221;\u00a0<\/i><span id=\"yiv9953510697yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1500380363180_16456\">And perhaps you won&#8217;t skip past this invitation to join us this Sunday as we probe this Pardon portion of this prayer.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"base-card-clear\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve been studying the &#8220;Lord&#8217;s Prayer&#8221; for the past several weeks, but we&#8217;re going to skip over its next phrase because it no longer applies to 21st\u00a0century American Christians.
