Besides, God wants us to be happy.

(Note: If this is really true, that God wants us to be happy, then He owes a gargantuan apology to every persecuted Christian in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Eretria and anywhere else. His Promise of happiness applies to the afterlife, not necessarily to this life.)

I believe America’s pulpits have contributed to this doctrinal erosion. I bang my head against our sanctuary wall trying to figure out what pastors have done with such clear admonitions as Romans 6:1: “Should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of His wonderful Grace?”

There’s little doubt, that beyond the failure from the pulpit, the culture has contributed to our lax-lifestyles by its insistence on personal freedom; which among other factors presupposes the blurring-to-absence of laws. Each writes his own. “Don’t tell how to live!”

Yet it’s this very subject of Law that forms the basis for how each of us can establish a relationship with God. If we have no understanding of His Law, then we can’t come to terms with gaining His Favor. No Law, no salvation.

Why not come this Sunday as we begin a new sermon series for the summer months on the The Law; more specifically, on the focal point of Moses’ Law, familiarly called the 10 Commandments?

This Sunday’s message is: “What is God’s Purpose for the Law?”

Is it my observational bias, or are too many Christians today flaunting questionable lifestyles behind the curtain of grace?
